Austin- It was an early Sunday evening inside a near-empty HEB Center at Cedar Park Arena, where the Austin Spurs were just defeated by the Mexico City Capitanes 99-92. Forward Riley Minix led the way for the Austin Spurs with 19 points and Isaiah Miller scored 18 points in the loss to Mexico City.
At the end of the evening, Riley Minix walked out from the tunnel to waiting friends behind the media table. Although the Austin Spurs had just suffered a loss to Mexico City- you would've never noticed, as Riley was vibrant and full of positive energy.
The former Ohio Valley Conference Player of the Year has been averaging 20.7 ppg, 5.8 rpg, and 1.3 apg for the Austin Spurs. Riley’s trajectory has been on the uprise since his early days at Vero Beach High School, becoming a Florida Comets “Hall Of Famer”, leading Southeastern to a Sun Conference Tournament Championship, and finally leading Morehead State to a regular season co-championship and tournament title.
