San Antonio Spurs Announce Staff Additions and Promotions
New announcements for the San Antonio Spurs
The San Antonio Spurs announced additions and promotions within the basketball operations staff today.
Mike Noyes has been added as assistant coach/director of player development.
The Spurs also announced Josh Larson has been promoted to the Austin Spurs as general manager and Gorgui Dieng as assistant general manager of the Austin Spurs.
Per Spurs, Noyes joins the coaching staff after spending the past six seasons with the Memphis Grizzlies, and was recently the player development coach.
Noyes got his start with the Grizzlies as a data scientist in 2018 before he transitioned to video coordinator. He is a UConn graduate with a degree in mathematics and actuarial science which he obtained in 2017.
Larson spent the past two seasons with the Austin Spurs as the team’s basketball operations manager. He helped assist the Austin Spurs in roster building and day-to-day basketball operations, and assisted with player evaluation in the G-league. Larson is a graduate of the University of Illinois and served as student manager for the Fighting Illini basketball team from 2015-2019.
After announcing his retirement last year in the NBA, Dieng served as a basketball operations representative. A native from Senegal, Dieng spent part of two seasons playing with the San Antonio Spurs, and averaged 4.4 points, 3.2 rebounds, and 1.5 assists in 47 games. The 10-year NBA veteran also played for the Minnesota Timberwolves, Memphis Grizzlies, and the Atlanta Hawks.
In 2015, Dieng set up the Gorgui Dieng Foundation, which provides aid including medical equipment and supplies to improve healthcare in his native Senegal. In 2019, he received the Offseason NBA Cares Community Assist Award.
